Shopping

Jefferson County combines the best of both worlds in a unique shopping and dining experience that brings big city selection and quality together with small town charm. Personal service, family owned businesses and a hometown feel are all just a short drive from downtown Pittsburgh making it the ideal place to shop, dine and do business.

The Fort Steuben Mall recently completed a $35 million expansion and renovation project encompassing more than 800,000 square feet including the conversion of the six screen theatre to a state-of-the-art stadium seating entertainment venue. The mall features over 50 specialty shops and four department stores including Sears, JC Penney, Kaufmanns and the Wal-Mart Super Center as well as a wide variety of sit-down and carry-out restaurants. Summer 2004 will bring the opening of Pac-Sun and Dick's Sporting Goods which will open as an out parcel of the mall. The Fort Steuben Mall is conveniently located off of State Route 22.

To call Hollywood City Center a shopping plaza would be an understatement at the very least. In this ever-changing, ever-growing area you'll find everything from restaurants to clothing stores, office supplies to fine chocolates.

Hollywood has seen exciting changes over the past year and has many more in store. A major renovation of the Sherwin-Williams store took place in 2003 and two new stores, Fabian Formals and Video Warehouse, were added. The new year will bring the addition of a 15,000 square foot office complex adjacent to the Kroger building to house Teramana Enterprises among other businesses, overlooking the Harding practice field. A new Wendy's restaurant will be constructed at the entrance to Hollywood Plaza on Sunset Boulevard. Dollar Depot will be replaced by a new It's A Dollar retail store and the hillside above the Kroger store is being considered for development as well.

Whether it’s old-time family owned favorites or nationwide chains that you’re looking for, shopping and dining in Jefferson County will provide a level of selection, service and quality that make the experience one to remember.

Jefferson County grocery shoppers were given another option when, in the summer of 2004, Riesbeck's Food Markets opened its doors on Main Street in Wintersville, occupying the former Big Bear building. The family-owned, St. Clairsville-based store brought more than 100 jobs back to the village. It features an extensive delicatessen, certified Hereford beef, Grandma's Signature deli meats and salads and fresh baked sweets and breads from the bakery. Riesbeck's dates back to 1932, when its first store opened in Martins Ferry, Ohio. It continues to be owned and operated by the second generation of Riesbeck children and employees who carry on the tradition of quality, variety and friendly service.
