The "green machine" Looman referred to is a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle up for grabs courtesy of Wildfire Motors.

The electric green NEV was driven into St. Florian Hall Tuesday by Severine Petras, president and CEO of Lamplight Communities, and was on display to the more than 200 people on hand for the dinner and awards ceremony.

Area residents can purchases chances to win the electric vehicle, with proceeds benefiting Progress Alliance and the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce. Tickets cost $5 each or five for $20 and can be obtained at the Center for Economic Development, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce building on Market Street in Steubenville. The winner will be announced Sept. 30 during the chamber of commerce's annual dinner.

According to Looman, the electric-run vehicle will be on display throughout the spring and summer months at various events in Jefferson County.

"The green machine will be at the Dean Martin Festival, the Jefferson County Fair and everywhere in between," said Looman.

"This is a great opportunity to support the chamber and Progress Alliance, as well as a product made right here in Jefferson County," said Looman.

The two-seat vehicle can travel up to 80 miles between charges and is valued between $12,000 and $15,000, with the decals on the car donated from Signs Unlimited.

"Whoever wins (the vehicle) will hold a source of pride driving it around the county," Looman noted.
